Core Values
Our Core Values come from the two great commandments:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and with all your mind… Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39 and “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20
Core Value #1 – Worship:
“Loving God” This is the greatest commandment; to” love the Lord your God with all your heart soul and mind.” Matt 22:37
Preaching: The Word of God must be preached in a way that is understandable and relevant to our culture. “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of truth.” 2Timothy 2:15 This will be through preaching verse by verse through Books of the Old and New Testaments, and preaching topically regarding current events in our culture and our lives. God’s Word will be preached with authority, clarity, passion and power. In addition to bringing glory to God, we will equip our congregation with the grace, truth and power of the Scriptures for life. “All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16
Prayer: This is a time when the family of God can come together and with one voice lift up thanksgiving, praise and requests of God. Prayer will be an integral part of our worship services. “Do not be anxious about anything but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6
Music: The music must be God honoring in lyric and relevant in form. “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:19-20 We will rejoice with the angels around the throne, in fact even God rejoices over us with singing, as we assemble (Zephaniah 3:17). Our music will be contemporary, upbeat and full of praise and adoration.
Sacraments: The Lord’s Supper, Communion, will be offered the first Sunday of each month. (1Corinthians 11:23-29) Believer’s Baptism (Matthew 28:19), and Infant Baptism (Genesis 17:9-13) will typically be offered quarterly in conjunction with the Inquirer’s Classes. The mode of believer’s baptism will be immersion, or sprinkling if you prefer.
Fellowship: This is a wonderful time for the church to gather as one body, and enjoy building relationships with familiar and new faces in and outside the church services. This is God’s family, we are brothers and sisters in Christ not only for this life, but for the eternal life to come!
Core Value #2 – Ministry:
“Loving People” This is the second greatest commandment; to “love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:39 We are saved for a reason, in addition to worship, we are saved to serve others, “to do good works which God has prepared in advance for us to do!” and demonstrate to others the love and grace of Christ which we ourselves have received.
LifeGroups: This is our small group ministry designed to teach the Scriptures, encourage us in our relationship with Christ and with others, and to equip our members for good works, inside and outside the church. “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
LifeTeams: As we grow these will be our internal ministry teams to serve the church and church families through leadership, teaching, and volunteer positions of service. “It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up…” Ephesians 4:12
Core Value #3 – Evangelism:
“Go and make disciples…” Through worship, LifeGroups, lifestyle evangelism, service evangelism and outreach events we will penetrate beyond the walls of the church into our community and culture. Even as Christ, “came to seek and to save what was lost” (Luke 19:10), so we will be called upon to sacrifice our own desires and comfort to seek the lost, and cooperate with the work of the Holy Spirit in their hearts. As members we will give of our time, treasure and talents to the end that the lost would come to know Christ as their Savior.
Core Value #4 – Membership in the Church:
Jesus declared that we should baptize new believers into the fellowship of the church. Baptism has always been the visible evidence of not only faith, but also membership in the Church. Even as Christ committed Himself to the Church, so we must also commit our lives not only to a belief, but to the Church, the very Bride of Christ. “And the Lord added to their number (the church) daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:47b It is God who grows His Church (1Corinthians 3:6-7, Acts 16:5) and God’s design that His Church that hold the “candle”, the light of Christ, before our culture (1Timothy 4:1-5), through sacrifice and good deeds (Ephesians 2:10).
Core Value #5 – Discipleship:
“Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded…” The Church exists to teach or educate God’s people in God’s Word. We will do this through worship, LifeGroups, and conferences. Paul admonishes the church to, “prepare God’s people for works of service.” Ephesians 4:12 Potential leadership will be discipled by the pastor and others, as God continues to grow and reveal Himself through our gifts and opportunities. Leadership will be discipled to become disciplers of the leadership that follows them. We will not “call the trained” but rather will “train the called”. “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this they will lay up treasures for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”(SonLife!) 1Timothy 6:17-19
